The Jody Raffoul Band Debuts in Chicago
Jody, Wes, Charlie and Shakey took the windy city by storm on Friday night with an energized show at Joe's on Weed St. This popular 20,000 sq. ft. music venue holds a crowd of 1500 and features regional and national acts including Miranda Lambert, Van Zant, Brad Paisley, Eddie Money, Gretchen Wilson and Sugarland. The morning of Jody's performance, Joe's even hosted try-outs for TV's Nashville Star!
On Friday night, the near capacity crowd was focused on the Jody Raffoul Band as they performed original songs like Simple Life, Smile, Like a Star, Light of Day and Everybody Pull Together. Everything Can Wait was also featured, as well as Bad Company's "Shooting Star" (by request!) and U2's "One." Sample CDs vanished in minutes as new fans came up to meet the boys from Detroit. The band stayed for quite a while after their set, talking with the audience and enjoying Joe's fine hospitality. Then it was on to experience the excitement of a beautiful Friday night in Chi-town.
If you missed it this time around, don't worry. The band's magic 8-ball says "chances are favorable" that they'll be returning to Weed Street very soon!

Jody Raffoul "Unplugged" at the Whiskey Bar & Grill, Windsor, ON 8/31/06
Jody and company returned to the Whiskey in downtown Windsor for a second consecutive sold out performance at this venue. Jody was accompanied by the indomitable Wes Buckley and Greg Dilonè and later, by Windsor's own Charlie Lambrick. It was standing room only (on bar stools, window ledges, etc.) as the boys took the stage. The hometown crowd roared their appreciation of each of the band's original songs, especially when Kimberly Wright joined them on "Everything Can Wait" and an electrified version of "Everybody Pull Together." Jody dedicated U2's "Kite" to Wes Buckley Sr. and Wes and Jody's heartfelt performance together had the audience spellbound. Kicking it up a notch, the boys launched into the Beatles' "Don't Let Me Down." But in the middle of the performance, the sound system's power went out. Redefining the phrase unplugged, fans continued singing (even louder than the music had been) with four grinning band members playing along until power was restored. Next up was "She Says" with the crowd still juiced--singing the lyrics and dancing in the aisles. Jody followed up with the brand new tune "Home," an achingly beautiful song about love lost and found. Fans listened and appreciated. And then the place went wild again for Free's "All Right Now." It was nearing closing time and the band tried to say goodnight. But the Whiskey crowd was having none of it. So, for an encore, the boys did a cool little instrumental jam session and the Beatles' "Get Back." Clearly, fans can't wait to get Jody Raffoul back to Windsor!
