Walker’s Speakeasy, Dearborn Heights, MI...2/25/06
Jody and the band performed for the first time at Walker's Speak Easy in Dearborn Heights this weekend as they were invited to be part of WRIF (101.1) Detroit's featured bands. Kelly Brown was on hand from the radio station to introduce the guys and the crowd LOVED our boys. The band opened with It's Only Love, She Says, Insignificant Other, I Feel For You, Dreamer, Smile and Ten Times. At the break, there were lots of new fans clamoring to meet the band and get CDs. The word is out about Jody Raffoul and Co.! Set two featured Everybody Pull Together, Light of Day (which was recognized by all), and Simple Life. The dance floor filled up as set three opened with the band's version of ELO's Can't Get it Out of My Head (off Like a Star) and Everything Can Wait with Amy Fowlkes on backing vocals. It was hard for Jody and the band to leave because the crowd just didn't want the night to end. If you were there and you liked what you heard, let WRIF know you want to hear Jody on the air and back at the Speak Easy too. Next show is at Hatchy's in Utica this Tuesday. Hope to see alot of you there!

Andiamo's, St. Clair Shores, MI...2/23/06
A whole lot of people came out to Andiamo last night to celebrate the Bon Jovi Battle of the Bands Victory. Jody and Wes were joined by the rest of the band. Somehow they squeezed Charlie, Greasy and Shakey (and his drums) into their regular Thursday night corner of the bar. The excitement was electric and the congratulations were flowing all night. The guys played Simple Life, It's Only Love, Everybody Pull Together, Light of Day, Don't Let Go, Smile, Stay and Everything Can Wait (with Amy and Erin). For many in the audience, it was the first time they'd heard some of these songs with the full band! The night wrapped up with Love is the Answer and Little Black Car. Next stop: Walker's Speak Easy in Dearborn on Saturday. Come see the band at their debut at this venue!

DETROIT’S OWN JODY RAFFOUL BAND WINS BON JOVI’S “HAVE A NICE GIG” OPENING ACT COMPETITION

LOCAL DETROIT BAND WINS COVETED DEMO RECORDING DEAL AND OPENING ACT SLOT FOR BON JOVI AT GIANTS STADIUM THIS SUMMER

LOS ANGELES, February 23, 2006 – Bon Jovi in association with AEG Live, XM Satellite Radio and WDVD-FM today announced the winner of BON JOVI’S “Have A Nice Gig” opening act competition from the first leg of the tour. JON BON JOVI and RICHIE SAMBORA selected Detroit’s own JODY RAFFOUL BAND to receive a demo recording contract and perform in the opening slot at their Giants Stadium concert this summer. The JODY RAFFOUL BAND beat out hundreds of Detroit’s best unsigned bands to be Bon Jovi’s opening act at The Palace at Auburn Hills on Friday, November 18th. That win qualified them to compete on XM Satellite Radio against 23 other winning bands from the first leg of Bon Jovi’s sold-out “Have A Nice Day” World Tour.

The decision came down to the wire according to Bon Jovi Management. Both Jon and Richie spent a great deal of time watching and critiquing the performances from each of the four XM Radio finalists over the past week of the current leg of the tour. When Jon and Richie deplaned in Houston, TX, this past Tuesday they went straight to their dressing room at the venue to revisit the footage and choose the winner. They sought the band that displayed the best songwriting and elicited the best crowd response; they then weighed in the opinion of fellow bandmates to choose the winner.

JODY RAFFOUL was asked to be present at the WDVD-FM studios in Detroit today under the guise that all four finalists were on standby for the live announcement of the winner. In fact, only the JODY RAFFOUL BAND was asked so they could be surprised with the special recorded video announcement from Jon and Richie that they had won.

“Jody, Jody you got the gig man... Congratulations!... Thanks a lot for everyone for supporting us and congratulations Jody; we’ll see you in a stadium in New York City this summer.”

Singer/songwriter JODY RAFFOUL has built a strong fan base touring the United States and Canada with his unique blend of working class pop-rock rhythms. Jody began developing his vocal, musical and songwriting abilities while still a teenager in a local cover band and has since gone on to record three independent albums, 1996's JODY RAFFOUL and 2000's SIMPLE LIFE and his latest release LIKE A STAR which has garnered the music industry and music critics’ attention including The Windsor Star newspaper who declared, "Light Of Day” confirms Raffoul’s status as one of [the Windsor/Detroit] area’s best unsigned artists.”

“All of the opening bands from the ‘Have A Nice Gig’ contest had the opportunity to share their music with a larger audience, and getting that chance is always more difficult for an unsigned band,” said Billy Zero, program director for XM Satellite Radio and host of “The Radar Report,” an XM music show for unsigned bands. “Whether the bands can fill a basement or massive stadium, XM provides a place for both new artists and established acts to have their music heard and create new fans among our millions of subscribers.”

WD
VD-FM’s afternoon talent Jesse Addy says, “Detroit has always been a source of great musical talent and we're very proud to be a part of that tradition here at WDVD. Hopefully Jody won't forget us when he's dating a Supermodel.”

T
he “Have A Nice Gig” competition consists of 51 Bon Jovi concert tour dates beginning November 2, 2005 in Des Moines, Iowa and concluding with their March 11, 2006 concert in Las Vegas, Nevada. From the first 24 winning bands, four bands were selected as semifinalists by music fans across the country who logged on to the XM Satellite Radio website during January to vote online for their favorite. Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora then selected the JODY RAFFOUL BAND as the grand prize winning band from the four semifinalists. Audio and performance footage of the JODY RAFFOUL BAND and the three other semifinalists is available online at http://bonjovi.xmradio.com. Details for the 27 bands competing in the second leg opening act competition will follow in the upcoming weeks.

Post Bar Woodward , Ferndale, MI...2/22/06
Jody and Wes played their usual Wednesday gig at the Post last night. But the evening was far from ordinary. Jody had just heard about the upcoming Bon Jovi contest announcement and he and the band were really excited. Charlie and Shakey came out to soak it all in. The night was also filled with terrific special guests. Jody and Wes played several original tunes including I Told You So, My My, and Everybody Pull Together. The second set began with My My (an encore due to popular request) and new original Stay. Joy Sparks sat in with Wes to do Sarah McLachlin's Building a Mystery. As the evening's excitement built, so did the size of the crowd. A group came out to see Jody straight from the Coldplay concert and they requested more originals. Jody and Wes didn't disappoint. They played Light of Day (featuring Shakey on vocals), Simple Life and Everything Can Wait (with Amy Fowlkes and Erin Gray). Greg (aka Sin) from Zug Izland was in the house along with Bobby and James from the Reefermen and Billy Reedy of Grinder. Billy and our own Charles Lambert did a great rendition of the Stones' "Dead Flowers." Billy and Charlie then called Shakey up to do Johnny Cash's "Folsome Prison Blues." To wrap up the evening, Bobby East sat in with Jody to do Bad Company's "I'll Be Creepin'" and an awesome version of Zepplin's "Thank You." Jack Tracey's harmonica filled out the tunes beautifully. Tonight Jody and Wes will be at Andiamo in St. Clair Shores. Tune in to 96.3 in Detroit today at 2pm for the big announcement!

The boys beat out hundreds of bands who entered the Detroit area 'Battle Of The Bands'. The Bon Jovi 'Have A Nice Gig' battle has been running nationally, where in each market the opening act is a local band that has won their respective leg of the contest. Jody and his band won their heat and became one of the 'Final Four'. Hatchy's Sports Bar and Grill, Utica, MI...2/18/06
Jody and The Band enjoyed a Saturday show at their usual Tuesday night venue, Hatchy's in Utica. Jody, Wes, Shakey and Greasy played for a standing room only crowd and it was crazy as only Saturday night can be. Fans were treated to a string of original favorites including "It's Only Love", "Ten Times", "Like A Star", "She Says", "Light of Day", "Insignificant Other", "Dreamer", "Don't Let Go", and "Everybody Pull Together"! Jody and the Boys played three jammin sets. In the mix included new originals "Everything Can Wait" (with Amy Fowlkes) and "Love is the Answer". The crowd kept dancing and kept calling for encores. So the band wrapped up with Clapton's The Core (w/Amy) and Bad Company's "Feel Like Makin' Love". A few special birthdays were in the house so Jody and the band sang Happy Birthday! Next show is back at Hatchy's this Tuesday. Hope to see a lot of those Saturday faces there!

Maybe YOU can Help! - DonorCorner.com
I get a lot of emails daily and do my best to answer each on a timely basis. I got a very touching email today about a much overlooked situation, Bone Marrow Donors. So I am bringing this to the attention of everyone who visits my site in a hope that we can pull together and hopefully help those in need. Please read on - JODY

Please take a minute and visit the following site www.DonorCorner.com - a very heart wrenching, recently launched web site dedicated to helping critically ill people who are in need of bone marrow transplants. Quite simply, if those in need don't get the right match from a donor, they die. So again, please take a minute to visit the site and read about how you or someone you know might be able to help.

Also sign the petition
Click Here Now! - to help get a special after transplant care machine up and running.

In need right now is UZOMA AZUH a 22 year old student who if he doesn't find a matched donor soon will die.

If you, or someone you know may be able to help please contact
RON GILES via email; flowtech@cogeco.ca

Also interesting to note is that umbilical cord blood can be donated to public cord blood banks and used for stem cell transplants.

Jody, Wes and Bryan entertained the masses at the Ferndale Post last night. By the time the guys really got going, the place was packed. The first original song of the night was Fantastic LA by request. Jody followed that up with Downtown, also from the Simple Life record. Other originals from that CD included So Overlooked and Smile. The boys played Light of Day off the latest CD and then launched into the newer songs, which fans are anxiously awaiting. These included the brand new My, My, I Told You So, Stay, and Everybody Pull Together. Bandmates Charlie Lambrick and Shakey Fowlkes stopped in and Shakey added the third part harmony to The Beatles Nowhere Man. Jody invited friends Erin and Amy up to sing Everything Can Wait and he dedicated the song to AJ in honor of his birthday on Tuesday. Some of the guys from the Reefermen (James and Bobby) paid a surprise visit and Jody and Bobby East performed an incredible version of Led Zepplin's Thank You. What a duo! Bobby is amazing on the guitar. In Jody's words, "legendary." This Wednesday night wrapped with new original Little Black Car, also by request. If you wish you were there, come out to Andiamo and catch Jody and Wes this evening!

Andiamo's, St. Clair Shores, MI...2/9/06
After two weeks on the road, Jody and Wes were welcomed back to Andiamo by a crowd excited to hear details of New York and all the Superbowl events. They opened the first set with the new My, My which was so well liked that fans asked for it again in the third set. Other originals included Light of Day, Simple Life, Everybody Pull Together, I Told You So, Stay, Dreamer (by request!) and It's Grand. The boys wrapped up the evening with new original Little Black Car and, of course, Wes Buckley's trademark Dueling Banjos. Thursday loves the theme from Deliverance! Jody and the band have a few well deserved days off, but you can catch them next Wednesday at the Ferndale Post.

Post Bar Woodward , Ferndale, MI...2/8/06
Wednesday at the Post has traditionally been jam night for Jody. And last night certainly fit the bill. Guest singers and players just kept turning up in Ferndale. And the set list was eclectic to say the least! Jody, Wes and Bryan started right out with the new tune My, My. Bandmate Steve Taylor opened the second set with Jody, playing guitar and providing the lead vocals to several Beatles tunes. The boys performed Everybody Pull Together, Stay, I Told You So and Everything Can Wait with Amy Fowlkes. The next guest performer was none other than Jeff "Shakey" Fowlkes who was just back from the Wings game where they pummeled Nashville 6-0. Next up was Scott Stills on guitar playing Otis Reddings Dock of the Bay with Jody and the boys. And technically Tom Wilbur provided lead vocals on a couple of songs, although from the back of the room. The night ended on an "interesting" note with Jody and Wes challenging the crowd to a TV version of Name That Tune. Who remembers Welcome Back Kotter? Imagine Jody (aka Archie) and Wes (aka Edith) doing Those Were the Days from All in the Family. The whole bar got into the act on the theme song from Gilligan's Island. A highlight of this part of the evening was the instrumental Suicide is Painless (theme song from MASH) which Jody noted was written by a fellow from Leamington. This thought inspired Jody to perform a never before heard ditty called Ketchup Loves Potatoes which has to have been from a TV commercial. See what you learn when you are from the tomato capital of the world!

Hatchy's Sports Bar and Grill, Utica, MI...2/7/06
Fans at Hatchy's last night were treated to a rare acoustic show featuring Wes, Jody and Charlie. The blending of these voices and guitars was really something special and the guys seemed to enjoy the session as much as the crowd. The night began with Bad Company's Mary Don't You Weep and the brand new original My, My. Other originals included Smile, Everybody Pull Together, Stay, I Told You So and Insignificant Other (the original version before the Like a Star recording). Later in the evening, the trio played Everything Can Wait (with Amy Fowlkes), Ten Times, Don't Let Go, Little Black Car, Light of Day and Simple Life (with Kyle LaFerle on guitar). The crowd wasn't ready for the night to end so we heard Mellencamp's Rain on the Scarecrow, Neil Young's Down By the River (featuring Mike Novak of Gallery), Arlo Guthrie's Coming Into Los Angeles, and even the theme from Batman complete with "Biff" and "Pow" sound effects from Wes. After that, it was agreed that maybe it was time to call it a night. Tune in a week from Tuesday. Same Bat time, same Bat venue. And bring your friends!

Jody and the band headlined the Budweiser tailgate party on the Detroit/Windsor waterfront on Superbowl Sunday. Despite the chilly weather, the tent was full to capacity with music lovers and they were not disappointed. Jody, Wes, Charlie, Shakey, and Steve treated the crowd to all of their favorite original songs including the fan favorite Everything Can Wait with Amy Fowlkes and Everybody Pull Together. Hit singles Light of Day and It's Only Love were also featured. The crowd didn't want the gig to end. After the concert at the river, Jody and the band made a surprise appearance at Bentley's bar in Windsor. As they walked through the door, you could hear the excitement. Fans asked Jody to do a few songs and he obliged, playing a couple of originals, including Everybody Pull Together. Of course, that wasn't enough for the pre-game crowd so the band performed an encore of Bad Company's "Shooting Star." Jody and the band stuck around, meeting fans and enjoying the Superbowl. It was a good day to be in the Detroit area and a great day to be at Bentley's. Thanks to all the staff for making the band feel right at home.

Jack's Pub (Grand Opening) - Kingsville ON
...1/28/06
Despite the long journey back from New York on Saturday, Jody, Wes and Bryan made their way to Kingsville for the grand opening of Jack's Pub. Jack's is a really quaint venue with vintage decor, terrific food and a really nice staff. Every antique chair in the place was full, as this was yet another sold out show for Jody. Jack's provided an intimate setting to hear favorite Jody originals, including Don't Let Go, Simple Life and Smile (Simple Life). The guys didn't sound the least bit tired as they wowed the crowd for 2 1/2 hours. We heard songs from the latest CD Like a Star included Light of Day and the title track. And fans were treated to new songs such as Everybody Pull Together, I Told You So, Stay, Everything Can Wait, Little Black Car and the brand new My, My. We had a special visit from Jose 'Wes' Feliciano doing a bit of Light My Fire, a dedication of the Beatles 'Falling' (no, not ABBA) to all of the folks that help the band, and Jody offered a special thank you to Bryan Jones for taking such good care of him and Wes in New York and all the time. When Wes and Jody wrapped up the show, the audience was pounding the tables for more. So Jody asked Wes to show them a little Dueling Banjos. Bryan accompanied Wes for this lively crowd pleaser. Did you know Wes can play both parts himself, sometimes with the guitar behind his head?

The crowd filled in as Jody and Wes continued with "Everybody Pull Together", "Smile", "Everything Can Wait", "She Says" and finally "Little Black Car". Many new fans danced along to the music and were happy to find CD samplers floating around the club! Even though the boys had been up almost all the previous night driving they still managed to find some energy to party afterwards in the city that never sleeps and capped it all off with a well deserved visit to one of Jerseys 'finest' diners!! New York bound Jody and Wes played an all acoustic set to an absolutely full house at Hatchy's last night. Mike Guy happened to be there with his conga drums and he added some energized rhythm to all of the sets. Mike also sang Bob Seger's "Turn the Page" with Wes accompanying him. Jody's playing seemed extra inspired, perhaps due to the complete overhaul he just had done to one of his favorite guitars. The sound was simply amazing. Songs for the evening included Everybody Pull Together, Light of Day, Don't Let Go, Like a Star, Ten Times and Little Black Car by request. Set two began with Everything Can Wait featuring Courtney Louwers on backing vocals. Courtney lent her vocal talent to several songs in this set including the Beatles "Nowhere Man" and Bad Company's "Feel Like Makin' Love." The crowd included some of Jody's hometown fans from Leamington (Hairdu and Cruisin' Shooter for all you forum fans) as well as many new faces. Everyone was excited about the upcoming shows in New York. Jeff, Dan and Jeremy (3/4ths of the band John Murdock and the Strangers) performed a few of their originals for the crowd. And before hitting the road, Jody and Wes covered Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight" by request and then they debuted a brand new song that they will be performing at the NY shows. Jody has named the song "My, My." And it's pure magic. Hope you can all come out to an upcoming show to get the scoop on New York and hear the new song. Let Jody know what you think!

Special guest Chris Brantley sat in to sing a few songs and jam with Wes, who is still toughing it out through his severe finger injury, although you couldn't tell through the guitar. Featured songs included the title track from Simple Life and new songs Everything Can Wait (w/Erin Gray), and Everybody Pull Together. Next the boys debuted a rough sketch of a very new song. I'll call it "My, my" since it is probably as yet untitled. Pretty cool to hear the new ones developing. Other Jody originals for the night included Light of Day (Like a Star) and new tunes Love is the Answer and Little Black Car. Jody invited fans to join him next week for the shows in New York. He may have been kidding, but fans were talking. Can't find a better city than New York for a road trip! Jody will be at Andiamo in St. Clair Shores tonight if you want more details.

Hatchy's Sports Bar and Grill, Utica
, MI...1/10/06
Tuesday's usual suspects (Jody, Wes, Shakey and Greasy) played Hatchy's sports bar last night to an enthusiastic crowd. Everyone wanted to know if the band won the next phase of the Bon Jovi contest and there was lots of talk about the voting and the contest in general. Jody and the band thanked everyone for their support and promised to let fans know as soon as we get news on that. After several people requested some orignal songs, Jody and the guys launched into a set of their tunes, including Love is the Answer (new), Everybody Pull Together (new) and the band version of Don't Let Go (Simple Life). Next they played a few off the latest CD release including Light of Day (Like a Star), Ten Times (Like a Star) and the title track Like a Star. Erin Ashley Gray and Amy Fowlkes were both in the house last night and so Jody called them up to sing together with the band on Everything Can Wait (new). Those girls just get better and better. They are always a crowd favorite. The evening wrapped up with Smile (Simple Life) and then some guest playing by two friends of the band. Robert Noll, Detroit Blues Legend, gave fans a taste of his bluesy electric guitar and vocals while Randy Gadke sat in on the drums for Shakey for a few of the closing songs. The band seemed to be enjoying the show as much as the fans usually enjoy watching them. Tuesdays at Hatchy's are cool. Jody will be in town this week so tonight at the Post and tomorrow at Andiamo's is a go. Hope to see you all there. Come wish Jody luck before he heads to the legendary Knitting Factory next week in New York City!

Andiamo's Lakefront Bistro, St. Clair Shores, MI...1/12/06
Jody and Wes were on hand at Andiamo's in St. Clair Shores last night to entertain all the folks who came out to enjoy some fine Italian food and good spirits. This is a nice intimate venue to hear Jody play. Fans often make requests and just talk with Jody about what's new and exciting. Last night, the guys played originals like "Smile," "I Told You So," and "She Says," which is tricky to play acoustically, but always a crowd favorite. By request, Jody played new original "Everybody Pull Together," and "Light of Day." And the evening wrapped up with the incredibly lovely "Little Black Car."

Post Bar Woodward , Ferndale, MI + Bonus...1/11/06
Jody, Wes and Bryan played to another full house at the Ferndale Post. The Wednesday regulars and several new faces were treated to an upbeat acoustic performance of Jody originals. Jody opened with "Joe California," a rare treat from his first album. Then we heard "It's Grand," which is a song many of you may have heard, but has recently been getting a major rework that is really cool. Wednesday is like a "working" performance where the guys try new things and rehearse what works. It's fun to see the progression of the songs. Other tunes included "Smile," "Everybody Pull Together," "I Told You So," "Light of Day," "Dead Man Walking" (yes, acoustically!), and "Little Black Car." The boys also performed "Everything Can Wait," with Erin Ashley helping out on the vocals.

After his set at the Post, Jody wandered over to the New Way Bar, also in Ferndale to jam with friends. Jody picked up an electric guitar and supplied the vocals for a few songs with former bandmates Robert Gillespie (Mitch Ryder's Detroit Wheels) on lead guitar and Gary Rasmussen (Iggy Pop and Patti Smith) on bass, Steve Firneno (The Brian Schram Band) on drums, and Eddie Hersch (The Black Crowes) on keyboards. His rendition of Eric Clapton's "Have You Ever Loved a Woman" had these blues fans riveted to the stage. Jody also performed Free's "Ride on Pony" and Clapton's "Why Does Love Have to be So Sad?" (with Wes Buckley and Erin Ashley) in this intimate setting of musicians and music lovers. Jody said he felt honored just to be on the same stage with artists of this caliber.

Hatchy's Sports Bar and Grill, Utica

Jody, Wes, Shakey and Greasy played to a standing room only crowd at Hatchy's this Tuesday night. The buzz surrounding the 2nd phase of the Bon Jovi contest was contagious. There were lots of new faces and everyone got in on the fun of Shakey's birthday. Jody originals like "It's Only Love," "She Says," "Take Me Under," "Everything Can Wait" (w/Mrs. Fowlkes), "Don't Let Go" by request, "Light of Day," "Love is the Answer," "Ten Times," and crowd favorite "Everybody Pull Together." There was birthday cake, lots of toasts, a rockin' dance party, and even some guest performances. Shakey's birthday requests kept the band on stage into the wee hours (past 1am!) The night ended with the entire crowd singing along to The Who's "Magic Bus" and Alvin Lee's "Going Home" after which Keith "Shakey" Moon dismantled his drum kit. What a night! Jody thanked everyone for their votes in the Bon Jovi contest and asked them to keep on voting. This band is going to New Jersey! Next stop the Ferndale Post tonight!

November 18/05 - Jody Raffoul and Band opened for Bon Jovi at the Palace of Auburn Hills!

Jody Raffoul with Bon Jovi

Jody Raffoul and his band won the opening slot for Bon Jovi on the 18th after winning a Battle of the Bands hosted by Detroit radio station WDVD. The boys beat out hundreds of bands and if you were able to attend the show at The Palace you would know why! Jody and Band Members (Wes, Shakey, Greasy, and Jimmie Bones) tore up the stage big time!

They played a thirty minute set with such energy that if you didn't come as fan, you certainly left as one. The stadium filled as the boys played such originals as "It's Only Love", "She Says", "Light of Day", "I Feel for You", "Everybody Pull Together" and "Love is the Answer". Jody fans, spread throughout the stadium, showed their support with signs, cheers and of course back-up vocals! As a fan, Jody sat in the audience just weeks before, imagining the day when he would get the chance to play his music at such an awesome venue. Well that day has come and passed, and rest assured it won't be the last!

The contest continues as "Light of Day", the third song of the set was recorded, and will be voted on by the Bon Jovi crew along with the other bands that won opening slots during the Bon Jovi Tour. The winning band will open for Bon Jovi at Giants Stadium 2006! Win or lose, Jody Raffoul and his Band are already winners and will continue to inspire and engage any crowd they have the opportunity to play for.

Post Bar Woodward , Ferndale, MI...1/4/06
Jody, Wes and Bryan Jones were on hand last night doing a rather unusual set list at the Post. Originals included "I Told You So" and "It's Grand". Fan favorite "Everything Can Wait" was on the menu with both Amy Fowlkes and Erin Gray on background vocals. Other originals included "Smile", "Don't Let Go" and "Everybody Pull Together". In homage to one of Jody's favorite treats, Wes did a new impression--a quite convincing imitation of the Muppet Show's Swedish Chef. You can request an encore tonight at Andiamo in St. Clair Shores.

Hatchy's Sports Bar and Grill, Utica, MI...1/3/06
The band played their usual gig at Hatchy’s last night with a twist. Charlie Lambrick joined the boys for the evening so the guitar riffs were stellar. Charlie dreamed up a new melody and the band spent some time playing around with it. Perhaps the very beginnings of a new Jody Raffoul Band song?

Jody’s rib may be sore but there was nothing wrong with his voice. The band performed originals. “Don’t Let Go,” “Like a Star,” “Everybody Pull Together,” “She Says,” “Love is the Answer,” “Everything Can Wait” and “Smile” (w/Erin Gray), “Light of Day,” “It’s Only Love,” “Insignificant Other,” “Ten Times,” and “Take Me Under.” The night ended on an acoustic note with “Little Black Car” and “Grabtime” at the request of some of Jody’s Leamington pals who made the trip out. Next up, The Ferndale Post. See you there.

The Village Inn Door, 47 Erie St South, Leamington, ON...12/30/05
JoJody and the band played a sold out show Friday at the Village Inn in Jody’s hometown of Leamington, Ontario. Opening were Fired Up and Local Honey. While these talented bands warmed up the stage, the VI filled to capacity until finally they had to close the doors for the night! All before Jody and the band took the stage!

To start the night, Jody introduced Charlie, Shakey, Wes, Greasy and Greg to the crowd, saying “This is where I come from.” The response from the crowd was LOUD! The band was definitely welcome in Leamington! The band opened with current radio single “It’s Only Love” followed by “She Says,” “Insignificant Other,” and Shakey’s favorite song “Don’t Let Go.” Next up was the title track of Jody’s latest CD “Like a Star,” and then a dedication of “I Feel for You” for Jody’s cousin Charlene from her father on her birthday. “Dreamer” was next, followed by new track “Love is the Answer.” The first set wrapped up with Jody and Wes Buckley performing crowd favorite “Simple Life,” and the new “Little Black Car” acoustically.

After a short break in which Jody took time to meet with fans, pose for photos and sign autographs, the band took the stage for the second set. This set opened with “Ten Times” which Jody dedicated to all of his family. Jody also took a moment to wish his son Peter a happy birthday. Next up was “Light of Day” and then “Everything Can Wait” with Amy Fowlkes joining in on vocals. “Smile” was next and then new song “Everybody Pull Together” with the crowd singing along to every word.

The grand finale of the night was an impromptu reunion of Jody’s first band The Bad Apples who got their start on the VI’s stage. As one fan said, “these guys are legendary in Leamington.” Jody called up former band mates Scott Giles, Ronnie Raffoul and Bill Sawchuck to perform some of Bad Apple favorites. One of the Apples commented that they first took that stage together in February of ‘86 opening for the band Lone Boney. Clearly, a lot has changed since then! Judging from the support shown to Jody and the band at the VI, Jody and the boys will be happy to return to Leamington. Thanks to Joe and his staff for the hospitality and to Bryan Jones and Crash for their hard work behind the scenes to make this show such a success.
